FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL (FOUNDER)
Late Dr. Guruaribam Binodkumar Sharma was born on the 22nd October, 1948 at Brahmapur Guruaribam Leikai, Imphal East District, Manipur. He was the only child of Shri Guruaribam Dhabali Sharma and Guruaribam Tondonmacha Devi.
Dr. G.B. Sharma had his primary education from Dharmalaya ME School. Brahampur then joined Ram Lal Paul High School and completed Matriculation Examination in the year 1964. He passed PUSc from Manipur College, Imphal and completed Pre-Medical Course from Punjab University and joined Guwahati Medical College for MBBS Course. He got married with Laimayum Memcha Devi (D/O of Late L. Lalitamadhop Sharma of Nagamapal Khwai Brahampur Leikai) in the year 1969. After completing MBBS degree from the Guwahati University. He joined State Health Service, Manipur as Assistant Surgeon Grade-I on 27/09/1975 at General Hospital, Lamphel. In 1987 he passed MD (TB & Chest Diseases) from Varansi Hindu University. He also had WHO Fellowship on TB from USA.
Late Dr. Sharma worked extensively in the State Health Services in various capacities viz. as a Medical Officer, General Hospital, PHSC Sagolband Lamkhai, PHC Mao and Medial Officer i/c. Central Medical Store, Medical Directorate, Manipur before joining Post Graduate Course in Varanasi Hindu Chingmeirong, Imphal and then became State TB Officer / State Programme Officer RNTCP Manipur for a long time. Besides, he also worked as Project Director, Manipur State AIDS Control Society and made significant contributions in reducing the impact of HIV / AIDS in the state. During the period he had also travelled extensively in oriental countries viz. Thailand, Japan, Myanmar etc. carrying the message of HIV impact mitigation. He retired as Additional Director of Health Service, Manipur in June, 2006.
After retirement from Government service, considering his qualification and professional experience he was inducted to Tripura Medical College as Head of TB & Chest Diseases Department and worked in the capacity for almost three years. He was also Founder of Pitambara English School, Kwakeithel Heinoukhongnembi.
He imparts a spiritual richness, transparency in thought and action through value education. He left the heavenly abode on the morning of the 1st December, 2010 leaving behind his wife, thee sons a daughter, three daughter-in-laws, three grandsons and four granddaughters.
